From God's Love Letter

A poem by Carol Reed-Wrightman, CJM Volunteer (June 2000)

I walked into my bedroom --
Something heavy weighed on my mind.
I went to the Holy Scriptures --
To see what comfort I could find.

I turned the pages slowly --
And read each verse with care.
When suddenly the feelings --
Of strength and peace were there.

The words of Joshua brought courage --
From Job, patience prevailed.
The Psalmist hymns gave confidence --
Repentance, when David failed.

Restoration was Peter’s promise --
From Paul, endurance was taught.
But the greatest gift that I received --
Was the love that Jesus brought.

The burdens I felt had lifted --
And the same can happen for you.
If you just turn to the Bible --
And believe God’s Words to be true.
